Dear Shrooly Backers,
As October comes to a close, we’re excited to share our latest monthly update! We’ll cover fulfillment, shipping timelines, and the launch of a new mushroom Pod, along with software and firmware updates and more.
Shipping Updates
US and International Orders
A few months ago, we successfully launched in the EU, and now that we’ve got stable processes in place, we’re turning our focus to fulfilling orders in the US, Canada, and other regions. As mentioned in our June Update, we initially prioritized fulfilling orders in Europe to gather valuable feedback and refine our processes. This approach allowed us to build experience in Pod manufacturing, logistics, and perfect the growing process before expanding to the United States. Since we started shipping to Europe this summer, we’ve gained a better understanding of what our backers and customers expect, leading to significant improvements across the board—everything from the growing process to logistics to user experience.
We’re excited to share that the first batch of Shrooly S1 devices for US orders is already in production and will be ready by the end of November.
Originally, we planned to finalize our European shipping processes by the end of September, however refining them took a little longer than expected. Because of this, we’ve had to adjust our timeline for US shipping, and we now expect to start shipments to the United States by the end of January. We know this delay may be inconvenient for those who supported us early on, but please rest assured that we’re fully committed to getting your orders out as soon as possible, so you can start growing mushrooms with Shrooly by the end of January.
EU and European Orders
This past month, our team has been focused on building our shipping processes for European countries outside the EU, specifically the United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland. To make sure everything goes smoothly, we’ve selected a small group of customers to help us understand their experiences with receiving their orders. We’re happy to report that these tests were successful! After weeks of planning, building, and testing, we’re finally ready to start shipping to these countries.
Deliveries to Norway and Switzerland have already begun, so backers in these countries can expect their orders soon. While starting shipments to the UK has been more challenging than we anticipated, we’re thrilled to announce that we expect to begin shipping orders there by the end of this week.
Product Updates
Many of you have shared valuable feedback on the upgrades you’d like to see. Based on your input, we’ve prioritized reducing the noise from the air exchange fan during cultivation. We ran experiments at our Shrooly test farm in September to find a more balanced cultivation program for oyster mushrooms that would lead to a quieter process without sacrificing quality. We’re pleased to announce that these tests are complete, and new cultivation programs for all our oyster varieties are now available and automatically updated in the Shrooly app. We’re also experimenting with fine-tuning the cultivation programs for Lion’s Mane and Reishi and hope to introduce these updated programs soon.
We’ve also released a new firmware version for the Shrooly S1 that addresses the water level measurement function. The device now displays 100% when there is enough water in the water tank, and 0% when a refill is needed. With this update, you will always know when to refill the water tank, helping maintain optimal humidity levels for consistent, successful harvests moving forward. Additionally, this update resolves the issue of false low-voltage errors. You can read more about the new firmware here.
Pod Updates
We’ve heard your feedback about the QR code scanning on Pods. To make your mushroom-growing experience smoother, we’ve decided to remove the QR code validation feature. This means you won’t need to scan QR codes on the Pods when starting a cultivation anymore. While the current stock of Shrooly Pods still has QR codes, there’s no need to scan them. Going forward, newer Pods won’t have a QR code sticker. Our mission is to help as many people as possible grow their own mushrooms at home, and this new approach allows you to start as many cultivations as you like.
As mentioned in our September Update, our cultivation team has worked hard to ensure the best quality Pods for successful harvests. We initially launched with four mushroom species: Yellow Oyster, Pink Oyster, Lion’s Mane, and Reishi. Now, we’re excited to announce an expansion to our Pod selection with a new species: the Elm Oyster! Known for its mildly sweet flavor and tender texture, the Elm Oyster is rich in nutrients like niacin and potassium, supporting immune and heart health. Plus, it’s low in calories and fat, making it a nutritious addition to your diet.
Pod Claiming and Content Updates
As mentioned in our September Update, we’ve worked to provide more information on our website about the species you can order. We’ve added more details on our Pod claiming page to help you decide what mushroom to grow next.
We’re also happy to announce that we’ve revamped our Pod claiming page to make claiming your Pods easier in the future. We know that the experience isn’t perfect yet, but we’re committed to simplifying this process for you and will continue to work toward that goal.
What’s Ahead?
In November, we’ll focus our efforts on ensuring smooth shipping for the United States so that we can start delivering US orders by the end of January.
Thank You for Your Support!
As we wrap up our October Update, we want to thank you once again for your support and for your patience, especially our backers and customers in the United States, Canada, and other countries outside of Europe. Please know that we’re fully committed to shipping your orders as soon as possible, starting at the end of January.
We truly appreciate you being a part of the Shrooly community, and we’re excited to continue sharing our progress with you. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for growing with us!
With Mush Love,
The Shrooly Team
